May. 2nd, 2003 03:47 pmI don't know how this group usually deals with introductions, but I'm introducing myself anyway. This pairing has been screaming at me for the last few weeks, right up until last night when 'Storyteller' aired (in the UK) and halfway through my mother piped up with "so is Andrew meant to be gay or what?"
So I wrote my very first piece of Buffy fanfiction. It's not brilliant, but I think it might get Andrew out of my head for a while.

if she sees a pairing, it has to be more than just subtext
Xandrew: it even passes the mum test *g*
That's the thing that's been putting me off Buffy fic for so long - characterisation. That and dialogue. Especially Xander dialogue. It's hard.
I was always put off by that. It's not difficult to write Buffy fic, but it is difficult to write *good* Buffy fic, because the show itself has a very definite style, and a lot of idiosyncrasies, especially in dialogue. It's like a whole other language. I think you did it really well though. I could "hear" them both, which is always a very good sign.
